Should the CLS/MT Education Entry Level be the Masters Degree?
|

What Problems Would CLS/MT Post Baccalaureate Entry
Pose for NAACLS?
A change in entry level would not change policy and procedures already
established. However, if one expects an expansion of curriculum and course
content, expertise of volunteers might need to be expanded as well. Because the
paper reviewers, site visitors, and review committee members all play
significant roles in evaluating programs, there may need to be additional
qualifications required of volunteers working with post baccalaureate entry.
It is possible that there would be fewer programs needed at this level. As a
consequence, income for NAACLS could decrease. This is always a possibility and
there is now only 35% of the number of CLS/MT programs accredited in 1975.
It is NAACLS policy that the work of accreditation be accomplished within
available resources. Should those resources diminish significantly, changes in
processes and/or policies might be necessary.
