At the April 6, 2000, meeting of the NAACLS Board of Directors, new Board and Review Committee Members were elected.
Newly elected to the Board of Directors as the ASCLS Representative was Shauna C. Anderson, PhD, MT(ASCP)C, CLS. Dr. Anderson is the Program Director/Professor of the CLS/MT Program at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. She served on two NAACLS Review Committees between 1990-1998, and she has been a presenter of several NAACLS workshops. Dr. Anderson succeeds H. Elise Galloway, PhD, who served as an ASCLS Representative to the Board for four years. Also elected to the Board as the National Society for Histotechnology (NSH)Representative was Robert L. Lott, HTL(ASCP). Mr. Lott is the Manager, Anatomic Pathology, at Baptist Health System of Alabama in Birmingham. He succeeds John Ryan, MBA, HT/HTL(ASCP), Assistant Administrative Director of St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital in Houston, Texas, who served on the Board as the NSH Representative for eight years. Betty Dunn, MS, CLSp(CG), Director and Assistant Professor of the Department of Clinical Laboratory Science and Cytogenetics Programs at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio, has been elected to the Board of Directors as the new Association of Genetic Technologists (AGT)Representative. Ms. Dunn succeeds Peggy J. Stupca, MS, CLSp(CG)CLSup, who served as the AGT Representative on the Board from 1996-2000, and who also served on two NAACLS Review Committees between 1989-1996. Terrance E. Suarez, PhD, Dean of Instruction and Student Services at Wytheville Community College in Wytheville, Virginia, has been elected to the Board of Directors as a Two- Year Educator. Dr. Suarez succeeds Constance L. Churchill, PhD, Dean of Science and Health Careers at Oakton Community College in Des Plaines, Illinois. Dr. Churchill served on the Board from 1996-2000. Newly elected to the Clinical Laboratory Sciences Programs Review Committee (CLSPRC)as a CLS/MT Educator is Carol T. McCoy, PhD, MT(ASCP), CLS, who is the Program Director of the CLS/MT Program at the University of Wisconsin at LaCrosse. Dr. McCoy succeeds Jean Holter, EdD, Director and Professor of the Medical Technology Program at Western Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia. Dr. Holter served on two NAACLS Review Committees between 1992-2000. Newly elected to the Programs Approval Review Committee (PARC)is Katharen LeSavoy, PBT(ASCP), Technical Associate at Elliot Hospital in Manchester, New Hampshire. Ms. LeSavoy succeeds Kathryn L. Smith, CLPlb(NCA), PBT(ASCP), Operations Coordinator at Memphis Pathology Laboratory in Memphis, who served on the PARC for six years. Re-elected to the PARC for a second four-year term was Helen M. Jenks, MT(ASCP)CLSp(CG), as the Cytogenetic Practitioner. Ms. Jenks is employed at the Molecular and Cytogenetic Laboratory at the University of California-Davis in Sacramento. Also re-elected to the PARC for a second four-year term was Mary Beth Fisk, MT(ASCP), who is one of two Clinical Assistant Educators on the committee. Ms. Fisk is the Director of Education at the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center in San Antonio. Re-elected to the Affiliated Professions Programs Review Committee (APRC)was Charles W. Ford, PhD, who was elected to serve another term as Member-at-Large. Dr. Ford is the Professor of Health Sciences at the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine.
