NAACLS elections held by Megan Hennessy Eggert Publications Coordinator

In April the NAACLS Board of Directors held its annual election for board and review committee positions. Nominations were solicited by mail and in the NAACLS News as has been done in the past.

This year, however, the call also went out onto the Internet via the listserve. A record number of CLS educators e-mailed nominations and applications for some positions served to illustrate the changing mode of communication. In some cases, when creating a slate of nominees to present to the Board of Directors, the Nominations Committee had a difficult time making selections from a pool of highly qualified individuals who are active NAACLS site visitors and paper reviewers as well.

Reelected to the Board of Directors for a second four-year term was Joeline D. Davidson, MBA, CLS(NCA), MT(ASCP), one of two nominees from ASCLS. Also reelected was David Anderson Hooker, MA, MPA, MPH, JD, public member.

APRC

James Lewis is a new member on the APRC, replacing Jerry Phipps. He is one of two representatives of AAPA who are appointed to the committee by that organization. Affiliating organizations select representatives, and they do not stand for election. Other members are elected by the Board of Directors.

The Nominations Committee was chaired this year by Richard DeLuca. H. Elise Galloway and Edwin Herring also served. Because nominees from ASCP to the Board of Directors have not yet been received, the committee will have another meeting prior to presenting candidates to the board. The relatively new procedure of electing representatives from ASCP and ASCLS is a requirement of recognition by USDE and is related to the separate and independent status of NAACLS.
New committee members will be guests of the board in July when they will participate in an orientation session and observe committee meetings. The board thanks all volunteers placed in nomination and encourages them, if not elected this year, to volunteer for the committees again in the future and to continue to serve as site visitors and paper reviewers.
