NAACLS Elections Held by Olive M. Kimball, EdD Executive Director

In April the NAACLS Board of Directors held its annual elections for Board and review committee positions. Nominations were solicited by mail and via the Internet as well as in the NAACLS News. When creating a slate of nominees to present to the Board, the Nominations Committee had a difficult time making selections from a pool of highly qualified individuals. For the committees, the nominees were active NAACLS site visitors and paper reviewers.

Re-elected to the Board of Directors for a second four-year term was Dorryl L. "Sonny" Buck as one of the three representatives of ASCP. Dr. Buck is the Medical Director at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Re-elected for a second term as Public Member was Richard J. De Luca, MPH, MA. He is President of the Santa Fe Group, Inc. , in North Canton, Ohio.

Newly elected to the Board as the Four-Year Eeducator is David D. Gale, PhD, Dean and Professor of the College of Allied Health and Nursing at Eastern Kentucky University. He succeeds Fred Pairent, PhD, Emeritus Dean at University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee.

Also elected to the Board as a CLT/MLT Practitioner/Educator is Lucille Contois, MA, MT(ASCP). She is Program Director for several CLS Programs at Northern Michigan University, including CLT/MLT. She has served two terms on the CLSPRC, served as both chair and vice chair of the committee, and served on developmental committees for both pathologists' assistant and clinical assistant programs. She succeeds Barbara Douglas, who served two years on the MLT Review Committee and seven years on the Board of Directors.

Richard DeLuca chaired the Nominations Committee this year.

H. Elise Galloway and Barbara Douglas also served. New committee members will be guests of the Board in July when they will participate in an orientation session and observe committee meetings. New members of the Board of Directors will be oriented at the October meeting.

Thanks are extended to all volunteers placed in nomination. We encourage you, if not elected this year, to volunteer for the Board or committees again in the future and to continue to serve as site visitors and paper reviewers.
