Dear Dr. NAACLS
Financial obligations of accreditation

Dear Dr. NAACLS:

My administrator has suggested that we explore the possibility of seeking accreditation for our pathologists' assistant program. What would be our financial obligations to NAACLS if we were to do this?

Signed,

Interested Program Director

Dear Interested Program Director:

The first step is to have your chief academic officer send a letter to NAACLS stating the intent to apply for accreditation. When that letter is received, we send general information and request an Application for Initial Accreditation and a brief Preliminary Report.

After positive review of your Preliminary Report you will be notified and encouraged to proceed with a Self-Study. When we receive the Self-Study you will be invoiced for the Initial Application Fee of $600. When that fee is received you will be considered a Serious Applicant for accreditation. Atthat point we will notify the appropriate certification agency.

After review of your Self-Study and your response to that review, a site visit will be arranged in either the spring or the fall. You will be invoiced for a Site Visit preparation fee of $300 and later for a flat fee of $2000 to cover all costs of the site visit.

After the visit, the program document will be reviewed and a recommendation made to the Board of Directors at their next meeting. An award by the Board will confer accreditation on your program. In June following the Board award and every June following, you will be invoiced for an annual accreditation fee of $900. From the time you become a Serious Applicant until you are awarded accreditation can be up to 18 months and possibly two years until you are invoiced for an annual fee.

Good luck with your plans, and don' t hesitate to contact the office for more information.

Sincerely,

Dr. NAACLS
