Update on Computer Operations at NAACLS by Mark D. Erickson CIS Coordinator

The current focus of the CIS operations at NAACLS is the design of our database. We are changing our database to the Microsoft Access platform, and we are in the final stages of design. The new design will improve performance, allow for future improvements, allow us to track more information, and permit publishing selected program information on our website.

A new feature of our website is a search tool, which allows the user to search NAACLS accredited and approved programs by type, name, state, or zip code. This allows the user obtain contact information for a NAACLS program in a specific field and geographic area. You can view the search page by visiting http://www.naacls.org/search/. There are many additional updates to the website planned for this year.

We are enjoying the use of our server that we purchased and installed this summer. It is functioning well, and has reduced some of the headaches present in our previous configuration.
