Inactive Programs by State

In these uncertain times for the laboratory community, there has been much concern about the closure of programs and the effect on the profession of fewer graduates.When NAACLS representatives provide information on program numbers a companion question always asked is, "How many inactive programs are there?" Inactive programs tend not to reopen but continue to be accredited programs until they actually close.
It is important for inactive programs to maintain contact with NAACLS and to notify us as soon as any decision is made.If a program is to close we must be notified so that the information we give out is accurate, although formal removal from the list of accredited programs is accomplished by Board action.We provide information to other programs as well as students, the certifying bodies, and USDE.Following are the number of inactive programs by state:
