After the September Futures Conference, the NAACLS Board of Directors approved the convening of an Essentials Revision Task Force. The task force met by teleconference in January and will meet face to face in March at the NAACLS office. Members of the Task Force reviewed the results of the conference and were provided an early draft of the publication, The Laboratory Professional of the Future: A Compilation of Data From the September 22, 2000 NAACLS Futures Conference. Using this and other documents as background information, the Task Force will recommend Essentials revisions for both CLS/MT and CLT/MLT programs. The recommendations will go to the CLSPRC and to the Board of Directors for input. NAACLS President, Joeline Davidson, chairs the Task Force. Other members are Harriet B. Rolen-Mark, ASCP Representative to the Board, Lucille Contois, representing phlebotomy practitioners/educators on the Board, James Griffith, University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth, Vicki Freeman, University of Texas Medical Branch, and Lucy Randles, Health Care Advantage in Ohio. Copies of the conference publication have been mailed to all conference participants. Others may contact NAACLS for a complimentary copy at futures@naacls.org.
