President, Board of Directors

Joeline Davidson

NAACLS' Board of Directors, Review Committee Chairmen and Staff met on April 20, 2001 in Chicago for a Strategic Planning Session. The intent of the session was to develop the framework by which the organization will operate over the next few years.

In preparation for the meeting, each participant was asked to respond to questions related to the agency's strengths, weaknesses, environmental threats, opportunities and issues of concern. Responses were collated and used as a resource for the session.

The issues of concern for NAACLS were agreed upon and goals (outcomes) that we want to attain were established for each issue. Following are the issues and goals:

NAACLS' Processes and Policies
Cost-effective, streamlined, outcomes-based processes of high quality
Finance and Other Resources
Financial stability
Acquisition of appropriate properties for future busines expansion
Recruitment and retention of highly qualified staff
New Markets/Products/Ventures
Flexible Essentials and Standards to meet job market diversity
Accessible workshops and seminars
International recognition
Multi-agency management

Objectives (means of accomplishing the goals) were planned for each goal.

The plan will be reviewed annually. Accomplished goals and objectives will be deleted and new ones will be added as needed. The status of the goals and objectives will be reviewed more often to determine progress towards goal accomplishment.

The Mission Statement was reviewed for appropriateness before and following planning. Several changes to the statement were made. The strategic plan was reviewed for compatibility with the revised statement, which follows:
