NAACLS to Conduct Workshop and Open Hearing at ASCLS Meeting

NAACLS will conduct the following workshop in Chicago on Saturday, July 28, 2001 in concurrence with the ASCLS Annual Meeting:

Accreditation Process:
Steps Through the Self-Study and Site Visit

8:00am - 5:00pm
Fee: $125

Upon completion of the workshop, the participant should be able to:

  1. Define accreditation and explain the purposes and benefits of accreditation.
  2. Describe the NAACLS organization.
  3. Describe the NAACLS accreditation process.
  4. Describe the significance and purposes of the self-study process.
  5. List the steps in the self-study process.
  6. Discuss each Essential and using the Guide to Accreditation, determine what information should be contained in the Self-Study Report and what should be available for the site visit.
  7. Describe the purposes, types and kinds of site visits.
  8. Describe the site visit process.
  9. Discuss the responsibilities and duties of the site visitors.

The workshop includes a morning and afternoon beverage break, as well as lunch. All NAACLS accredited and approved programs will receive information and a registration form for this workshop in late May.

NAACLS will also hold an Open Public Hearing to solicit comments on Draft CLS/MT and CLT/MLT Essentials and Draft Phlebotomy Standards. This Open Public Hearing will be held on Sunday, July 29, 2001 at the Chicago Marriott Downtown, 540 N. Michigan Avenue. The Open Hearing will be held from 7:30-9:30pm, immediately following the NCA/NAACLS/CLS Update.
