NAACLS Welcomes New Board and Committee Members

We are very pleased to welcome the following new volunteer members to NAACLS:



Lorna Peterson, PhD, has been elected to the Board of Directors as a Public Member. Dr. Peterson is Associate Professor of Informatics at the State University of New York in Buffalo. She succeeds Richard DeLuca, MPH, who served on the Board as a Public Member for five years.



Martha Lake, EdD, MT(ASCP), has been elected to the Clinical Laboratory Sciences Programs Review Committee (CLSPRC) as a Four-Year Educator. She is the Program Director of the CLS/MT Program at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas. She replaces Shirley Richmond, EdD, MT(ASCP), who served on the CLSPRC as a Four-Year Educator from 1993-2001.

Terry Kotrla, MT(ASCP)BB, has been elected to the Programs Approval Review Committee (PARC) as a Clinical Assistant Educator. She is a faculty member at Austin Community College, Riverside Campus, in Austin, Texas. She is replacing Cecile M. Sanders, MEd, MT(ASCP), who served on the PARC from 1998-2001 and on the CLSPRC from 1991-1999. Ms. Sanders also served as the CLSPRC Chairman and Vice Chairman.



Katherine Nisi Zell, EdS, CLS(NCA), MT(ASCP)SH, has been elected to the Programs Approval Review Committee (PARC) as a Phlebotomy Educator. She is the Program Director of the CLT/MLT-AD Program at Coastal Georgia Community College in Brunswick, Georgia. She is replacing Susan E. Phelan, MHS, MT(ASCP), who served on the PARC from 1993-2001 and also served as its Chairman and Vice Chairman. Ms. Zell previously served NAACLS on the CLSPRC for two terms.



Karen Myers, MA, MT(ASCP)SC, CLS(NCA), has been elected to the Programs Approval Review Committee (PARC) as a Clinical Assistant Educator. She is the Program Director of the CLS/MT Program at HealthONE School of Medical Technology in Denver, Colorado. Ms. Myers is replacing Mary Beth Fisk, who served on the PARC from 1998-2000. She previously chaired the Clinical Assistant Programs Review Committee (CAPARC) from 1997-1998.



Gerald A. Phipps, has been appointed to the Affiliated Professions Programs Review Committee (APRC) as a Represen-tative of the American Association of Pathologists' Assistants. Mr. Phipps serves as Chairman of this committee. He is a Pathologists' Assistant at the University of Florida at Gainesville. He was previously appointed to the APRC from 1995-1997 and served as Chairman during that period.

Constance M. Thorpe, has been appointed to the Affiliated Professions Programs Review Committee (APRC) as a Representative of the American Association of Pathologists' Assistants. Ms. Thorpe is a Pathologists' Assistant at St. Louis University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. She is replacing James Lewis.
