Dear Dr. NAACLS
Inactive status and billing

I placed my program on inactive status a year ago. Why do I continue to receive bills from NAACLS?

Signed,

Confused

Dear Confused,

NAACLS differentiates between "closed" and "inactive" states. A closed program is one that is no longer accredited or approved. An inactive program is one that continues to be accredited or approved, but does not accept students. This may be due, for example, to a lack of students, temporary regional changes in the labor market, or internal restructuring. While on inactive status, the program is billed for half of the annual accreditation or approval fee and the program must designate a contact person to the NAACLS office.

For more information on inactive status, please contact the NAACLS staff.

Sincerely,

Dr. NAACLS
