NAACLS Computer Update by Elizabeth Everson Computer Information Services Coordinator

NAACLS staff members are currently working on a Document Management solution for the office. This will entail converting the documents we have been keeping as physical files in our file room into an easily accessible electronic form. Implementing such a solution will eventually reduce the amount of office space needed, prevent the loss of important documents and greatly increase the accessibility of pertinent information.

The plan focuses on the use of our high-speed scanner/copier to scan the documents, Adobe Acrobat software to convert them into .pdf form and the current database to retrieve them. Each program in the database will have documents that relate to it in a searchable, familiar form. We are designing the workflow process to make the outcome as user friendly as possible. Once the Electronic Document Management solution has been installed, NAACLS will have a more secure way to deal with documents that will save both time and money.
