Board of Directors Update (From the September 21, 2002 Meeting)

In addition to accreditation and approval awards, the following actions took place:

• Effective January 1, 2003 clinical facility site visits are no longer required (see NAACLS News v 82, Fall 2002)
  
  
• Beginning with the Spring 2003 cycle for new programs, cytogenetic technology program will be accredited and site visited
  
  
• Currently approved cytogenetic technology programs are now considered to be accredited
  
  
• Ms. Peggy Simpson was elected to replace Ms. Harriet Rolen-Mark on the Board as a result of Ms. Rolen-Mark's resignation
  
  
• Dr. Terrance Suarez was recognized as a second public member in addition to his role as a Two-Year Educator
  
  
• The Board agreed to continue to support the efforts of the Task Force on Entry Level
  
  
• A committee was formed to review timing and implementation of a volunteer recognition plan
  
  
• Draft Standards for histotechnician programs were released for public comment
  
  
• New officers elected were: Lucille Contois, Vice-President; Shauna Anderson, Secretary; David Gale, Treasurer; Terrance Suarez, Member-at-Large.  President Kathy Waller continues in her term.
