NAACLS Elections Held
by Olive M. Kimball, EdD, PhD Chief Executive Officer
|
In April the NAACLS Board of Directors held the annual election for Board and
review committee positions. Nominations were solicited by mail and via the
Internet as well as in the NAACLS News. In creating a slate of nominees to
recommend to the Board, the Nominations Committee found it difficult to make
selections from a pool of highly qualified individuals. For the committees as
well as the Board, nominees were, over all, very active NAACLS site visitors and
paper reviewers with long histories of service.
Board of Directors
Elected to the Board of Directors to serve a second term as Four-Year Educator
was David D. Gale, PhD. Dr. Gale is Dean of Allied Health and Nursing, Eastern
Kentucky University. Elected to serve a second term as CLT/MLT Educator was
Lucille Contois, MA, MT (ASCP), CLS(NCA). Ms. Contois is Director of the CLS
Department at Northern Michigan University in Marquette.
Programs Approval Review Committee
Elected to the Programs Approval Review Committee (PARC) as Member-at-Large was
Suzanne Campbell, MS, MT (ASCP). She is the CLT/MLT Program Director at Seward
County Community College in Liberal, Kansas.
Clinical Laboratory Science Programs Review Committee
Elected to serve as CLT/MLT Educator on the CLSPRC was Yasmen Simonian, PhD,
CLS(NCA). She is CLS/MT and CLT/MLT Program Director at Weber State University
in Ogden, Utah.
Three individuals were elected to an additional four-year term on the Clinical
Laboratory Sciences Programs Review Committee (CLSPRC). They were:
As CLT/MLT Educators:
John Landis, MS, MT (ASCP),
Professor at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan
Duncan Samo, MS, MT (ASCP), CLS(NCA), CLT/MLT Program Director
at Delmar College in Corpus Christi, Texas
As CLS/MT Educator:
Jane Hudson, PhD, MT(ASCP)SM,
CLS (NCA), Chair of Medical
Technology at the University of
Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg
Board members Lorna Peterson, Cheryl Caskey and Betty Dunn served on the
Nominations Committee this year. New committee members will be guests of the
Board in July when they will participate in an Orientation Session and observe
committee meetings. Their term begins on July 20, 2003.
