Board of Directors Update
In addition to accreditation and approval awards, the following took place:
- Effective July 1, 2004 initial programs as well as continuing programs will pay
the actual costs for the site visit instead of a flat fee.
- The Board authorized development of a survey of constituents to assess the
services provided. This will follow the guidelines of the last such survey
completed in 1997.
- The Board voted to merge the CLSPRC and PARC committees over the next year. A
committee to plan for the merge was appointed.
- Draft Standards for the Pathologists' Assistant programs were approved for
public distribution. They are now on the NAACLS web site.
- Representatives of the ASCP BOR and NCA provided updates of certification
statistics and a general discussion of activities.
- The president of CLMA addressed the Board and called for laboratory
organizations to collaborate and to speak with one voice for enhancement of the
professions.
- The Board revised the NAACLS Strategic plan.
- A decision was made to convene a Development Committee to consider possible
solicitation of contributions to an endowment fund.
- Elections were held and the following officers will serve NAACLS for the next
year, or in the case of the President, for two years:
President: David D. Gale
Vice President: Shauna Anderson
Treasurer: Terrance Suarez
Secretary: Cheryl Caskey
At Large: Peggy Simpson
- Joel Shilling was elected to a four-year term as representative of ASCP.
- Kathy Waller was thanked and commended for her service as President over the past two years. She will continue to complete her remaining two years on the Board.
