Computer Information Services Update
by Elizabeth Everson NAACLS Computer Information Services/Program Coordinator
|
In the interest of staying abreast of technology and keeping everything in
working order, NAACLS has gone through quite a few changes in the computer
department.
After experiencing some computer networking problems due to the legacy Coaxial
cable in our office, were wired with CAT5V Cable, the current industry standard.
After final adjustments are made, NAACLS staff will experience faster access to
documents and applications on our server.
Due to several problems with our server such as a lack of disk space, decreased
performance and a failing CPU cooling fan, an analyzation was done to determine
its validity within the office. Taking the aforementioned issues as well as the
lack of support for legacy software and hardware into consideration, it was
decided that our old server would not be able keep up with the office's needs.
The new server provides the office with improved performance, increased security
and the advantages of up-to-date software.
