Association Honors NAACLS Chief Executive Officer

At its annual fall meeting in Tampa, Florida the Association of Schools of Allied Health Professions (ASAHP) presented the Darrel Mase Presidential Citation to Olive M. Kimball, Chief Executive Officer of the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS). It was awarded to acknowledge her efforts in bringing Deans of allied health schools together with accrediting agency executives to address accreditation issues common to all.

In 1967, 13 charter institutions convened a series of meetings to develop a new organization, the American Society for Allied Health Professions, and elected Darrel Mase, PhD, of the University of Florida as the first president. The name the organization was later changed to the Association of Schools of Allied Health Professions.

Dr. Kimball has been a member of ASAHP since the late 1970’s. She received the ASAHP Board of Directors Service Award in 1988 for her contributions to the Institute of Medicine study, "Allied Health Services: Avoiding Crises" and was named a Fellow of the association in 1993.
