NAACLS Board of Directors Update September 2006

At the September 30, 2006 meeting of the NAACLS Board of Directors, in addition to accreditation and approval awards from the CLSPRC, PARC and APRC, the following actions were taken:

• An application to be considered a second pilot program of the merged CLT/MLT and Phlebotomy review process was accepted.
  
  
• The Standards of Accredited Educational Programs for the Clinical Doctorate in Clinical Laboratory Sciences were approved. (For more details, see the article on page 1 of this issue authored by Dr. David Gale.)
  
  
• A minor change in the Pathologist Assistant Standards was approved.
  
  
• Revisions to the NAACLS Bylaws, previously approved by NAACLS' sponsoring organizations (ASCLS and ASCP), were adopted. (For more details, see "NAACLS Approves AAPA Representative Position on the Board of Directors" in this issue.)
  
  
• Effective after the July 2007 meetings of the CLSPRC, APRC, and PARC, the CLSPRC and APRC will be combined into one committee.
  
  
• Revision of the NAACLS Policies and Procedures Manual was approved.
